Olympia Movie 1938

This is a still from the 1938 film, Olympia, directed and produced by iconic German photographer, Leni Riefenstahl. This film and its stills are popular even today for introducing unusual camera angles. It was Leni Riefenstahl who first discovered that taking pictures from a lower angle make the subject look bigger and stronger and adds value to it while taking a shot from a higher angle shows the subject as having a lower value. She shot the athletes from lower angles to show them as powerful, strong and valuable figures. A Still from Leni Riefenstahl's 1938 film, Olympia
